Don’t Panic Mix Series: Live From Funkington Manor

With the summer pretty much upon us and Glastonbury a week away its only natural we’ve had more rain than sun. Despite this, we were asked by the people over at Don’t Panic to put together an exclusive mix for the summer to come. Fitting in very nicely with our plans for Boomtown, this mix and interview sums up the vibe that we hope to be bringing to a field or club near you soon!

Check it here: Don’t Panic Mix Series – Funk From The Trunk

this mix is soaked in sunshine and dripping with hot, greasy Funk goodness!

FFTT Easter Weekend Double Bill

We’re back with a bang this month with an Easter weekend double-header!

On Good Friday we have three of the South West’s hottest bands in the world of hip hop and beats at our debut FFTT at The Old Fire Station. Top of the night are The Scribes are a four-piece formed in 2002 by co-lyricists ill Literate and Loki Steele, The Scribes have since gone from strength to strength with the addition of DJ/Producer Spinz to the mix bringing the heaviest of beats to kick crap out of your cliches & human beatbox maestro Lacey. Bristol’s very own Syte & The Sound are next up, a 6-piece live act dynamically blending genres on a journey from deep trip-hop to slamming bass and beats. Forming in early 2009, they have earnt their status as a tour-de-force both live and on record, supporting such acts as Dead Prez, Youngblood Brass Band, DELS (Ninja Tunes), The Correspondents and Example. Finally, born in the cultural melting pot that is Bristol, Three Kings High consists of band members from as North and as South as England goes and they’re influenced by about as many genres as there are cities in-between. Rooted in Hip Hop but combining uplifting, soulful, indie melodies with beats as likely to have been inspired by drum ‘n bass as old funk records.

We’re offering a recession-tastic concession list for this event – check the Facebook event for more details.

Then on Easter Sunday we’re back at probably our favourite DJ spot in Bristol, the Big Chill Bar with long-time FFTT comrade Smoove. The man promises  to drop some dope exclusive mash ups and Smoove remixes on the night. This one’s free entry all night so arrive early to avoid the queues! More info on the Facebook event.
